Omni Channel Guide
Meta Ads
The Omni Way
Meta is a demand-creation engine, not a demand-capture tool. Unlike search, your buyer isn't looking for you yet — but they will be. Your job is to be in front of them first, build trust before they need you, and still be there when they do.
Core Philosophy
Meta doesn't capture demand — it creates it. Your job is to be in front of your buyer before they know they need you, and still be there when they do.
Channel Role
Why this channel belongs in the Omni system
Meta runs as the always-on awareness and retargeting backbone of the Omni system. With 3+ billion monthly active users across Facebook and Instagram, it reaches your service-area audience at every stage of the buyer journey — whether they're cold, warming up, or ready to book. Three Omni tenets live and breathe here.
Meta is the awareness and retargeting layer of the Omni stack. You're always visible — whether the buyer is ready to hire or just scrolling on a Sunday morning. Cold audiences see brand content. Warm audiences see proof. Hot audiences see an offer. None of them ever see silence.
Meta is where the brand story lives. Before/after transformations, meet-the-team videos, client testimonials, and community stories all perform on this platform in ways that search simply cannot replicate. The narrative that builds trust happens here, in-feed, before the buyer ever types a search query.
Pixel-based attribution connects every Meta touchpoint — impression, video view, click, form submission — back to a booked job in LeadSprout. Conversion API (CAPI) fills the gaps where browser tracking fails. Nothing is invisible. Every dollar is accountable.
The Standard
Most businesses vs. The Omni Way
Most Businesses
- xBoost posts occasionally and call it advertising
- xRun one campaign to all audiences with one generic message
- xTurn ads off when business is good
- xUse only static image posts
- xNever install the pixel — no data, no learning, no attribution
- xRun the same creative for months until performance collapses
The Omni Way
- ->Always-on structured funnel: Awareness to Consideration to Conversion to Retention
- ->Separate campaigns per audience temperature with tailored creative at every stage
- ->Never goes dark — pausing kills the learning phase and costs money to restart
- ->Video-first strategy with creative refreshed every 3 to 4 weeks
- ->Pixel + Conversion API (CAPI) installed before spending a single dollar
- ->Systematic creative testing with a clear refresh cadence and frequency monitoring
Campaign Architecture
Campaign structure — by audience temperature
Audience temperature is the organizing principle of the entire Meta strategy. Cold, Warm, Hot, and Existing Clients run as separate campaigns simultaneously — different objectives, different creative, different messages. All four layers run at once, always.
Objective
- Video Views or Reach
- Not lead gen yet — you're earning attention, not demanding action
Audience
- Broad geographic targeting within service area
- Interest-based or Advantage+ Audience
- Lookalike from best client list
Creative
- Brand video and brand story
- Before/after transformation content
- Meet-the-team, behind-the-scenes
- Community and local recognition content
Goal
- Build recognition and familiarity
- They may not need you today — but they'll know you when they do
Audience
- Video viewers (25%+ watch time)
- Website visitors (all pages)
- Page engagers and post interactors
Objective
- Traffic or Engagement
- Drive deeper interaction and site visits
Creative
- Reviews and testimonials
- Detailed case studies with results
- Service-specific content and FAQs
- Objection-handling content
Goal
- Move them from "I've heard of them" to "I trust them"
- Build the evidence base that earns the decision
Audience
- Website visitors — last 30, 60, and 180 days
- Form abandoners (started but didn't submit)
- 75%+ video viewers
Objective
- Leads or Conversions
- Optimize directly for booked appointments
Creative
- Direct offer with clear CTA
- Lead gen ads (native Meta forms)
- "Get Your Free Estimate Today" messaging
- Limited-time or seasonal offers
Goal
- Book the job
- Convert intent into a booked appointment in LeadSprout
Audience
- Custom audience from client list upload
- Uploaded from LeadSprout CRM via WundertreOS

- Engagement or Reach
- Keep the relationship warm between service cycles
Creative
- Referral program ads
- Seasonal service reminders
- Review requests and appreciation content
- VIP and loyalty offers
Goal
- Drive repeat business
- Generate referrals from your best clients
Creative Strategy
Creative best practices — what works and what doesn't
- ->Video outperforms static — always test video first, even a simple phone-shot clip beats a polished still
- ->Before/after content is the highest-performing format for service businesses — show the transformation
- ->Hook in the first 3 seconds — if they don't stop scrolling, the ad doesn't exist
- ->Subtitles on every video — 85% of Facebook video is watched on mute
- ->User-generated content (real clients on camera) outperforms polished production in every test
- ->Square (1:1) or vertical (4:5) format outperforms landscape — fills more screen real estate in-feed
- ->Creative fatigue is real — refresh every 3 to 4 weeks minimum, sooner if frequency hits 4+
- xStock photos with generic headline copy — forgettable, ignored, zero trust-building
- xLandscape video designed for TV, not a mobile feed
- xLong-form text-heavy ads that nobody reads while scrolling
- xSame creative running for months without a refresh — frequency kills reach and performance
- xPrioritizing polished production over authentic, real-world content from actual clients
- xNo subtitles or assuming your audience has sound on
- xWeak or absent CTA — every piece of creative needs to tell the viewer what to do next
Audience Building
Targeting strategy — five approaches
Approach 01
Lookalike Audiences
Upload your best client list to Meta and build a 1% lookalike audience for cold prospecting. This is your highest-quality cold audience — the algorithm finds people who behaviorally and demographically mirror your proven buyers. Start here before using interest targeting. Quality of the source list determines quality of the lookalike — use closed-revenue clients, not just leads.
Approach 02
Interest Targeting
Use sparingly and test broad. Broad audiences with strong creative often outperform stacked interest selections — over-narrowing the audience limits the algorithm's ability to find buyers at scale. Stack interests only when you have a highly specific service for a clearly defined demographic. Let Meta's algorithm work — it gets smarter as conversions come in.
Build retargeting audiences from website visitors (30/60/180-day windows), video viewers at 25%, 50%, and 75% completion thresholds, and page engagers. Each segment gets its own message — someone who watched 75% of your video is much further along than someone who visited your homepage once. Segment and message accordingly. This is your most efficient ad spend.
Approach 04
Geographic Targeting
Define your service area radius with precision — tight enough to stay relevant and protect budget, broad enough for the algorithm to find enough buyers to optimize. For local service businesses, a radius of 10 to 25 miles from primary service locations is typical. Layer zip codes or city-level targeting over broad radius targeting when you have defined service zones.
Approach 05
Advantage+ Audience
Test Advantage+ Audience alongside manual targeting — especially for awareness campaigns where volume matters more than precision. When creative is strong, letting Meta's algorithm explore beyond your defined parameters often surfaces high-quality buyers you wouldn't have found manually. Always run as an A/B test against manual targeting before fully committing budget.
WundertreOS Integration
How Meta connects to the full Omni system
1
Meta Pixel via WundertreOS
Install the pixel before running a single dollar in ad spend. WundertreOS fires events on page view, form submission, phone click, and booking confirmation — giving Meta the signal data it needs to optimize toward real business outcomes, not vanity metrics.
2
Conversion API (CAPI)
Critical for post-iOS 14 attribution accuracy. Server-side event matching runs in parallel with browser-based pixel tracking — filling in the gaps where browser privacy restrictions block cookie-based data. CAPI ensures Meta's algorithm gets complete conversion signals to optimize effectively.
3
MarketBOOST Ads Hub
Connect your Meta ad account to MarketBOOST and view Meta performance alongside Google and every other active channel in a unified reporting dashboard. No more platform-hopping. Spend, leads, cost per result, and ROAS — all in one view, compared across channels side by side.
4
LeadSprout Attribution
Every Meta lead is automatically tagged with source, campaign, and ad set. Trace the full journey from ad impression to lead to booked job to closed revenue — all within the LeadSprout pipeline. This is how you prove Meta ROI in actual revenue, not just lead counts.
Performance Measurement
What to measure — KPIs that matter
Primary KPI — Conversion
Cost per Lead
The core performance metric for conversion campaigns. Track from Meta Ads Manager and cross-reference with LeadSprout to confirm lead quality — a low CPL with no booked jobs is still a failure.
Primary KPI — Revenue
Cost per Booked Job
Tracked through LeadSprout pipeline attribution. This is the number that connects ad spend to actual revenue. It's the only metric that matters to the business owner and the only one that justifies budget growth.
Video Performance
Hook Rate
Omni Benchmark: 25%+
The percentage of people who watch past the 3-second mark. If this is below 25%, the opening hook is not stopping the scroll — the ad is invisible before it starts.
Video Performance
Hold Rate
Omni Benchmark: 15%+
The percentage who watch to the 50% mark. Hold rate tells you if the content sustains attention after the hook. Drop-off between hook and 50% means the body of the video isn't earning its watch time.
Funnel Health
Frequency
Alert: above 4 to 5 on cold
How many times the same person has seen your ad. On cold audiences, frequency above 4 to 5 means you're burning budget showing the same ad to people who have already decided to ignore it — refresh creative immediately.
ROAS — Retargeting Campaigns
Omni Benchmark: 4x+
Return on ad spend from retargeting campaigns. Warm and Hot audiences should consistently return 4x or better — they're already familiar with the brand, so conversion costs should be low.
Cost per Result by Objective
Track by campaign type
Cold campaigns are measured on video views and reach CPMs. Warm on traffic and engagement costs. Hot on cost per lead. Each layer has its own cost metric — don't conflate them or judge cold campaigns on conversion cost.
Learning Phase Status
Never pause before exit
Meta's algorithm requires 50 optimization events per week to exit the learning phase. Pausing resets it completely — costing 2 to 3 times more per result to restart. Monitor and protect the learning phase status across all active campaigns.
- Post likes and shares (unless tied to a business outcome)
- Reach without frequency context
- Page follows from cold ad spend
- Impressions without conversion data
- Click-through rate on awareness campaigns
Pitfalls
Common mistakes — and why they cost you
Boosting is not advertising. It's reach without strategy, targeting, or optimization. Boosted posts use basic interest targeting, no campaign structure, and optimize for engagement — not leads or booked jobs. You're paying to show your post to random people with no funnel beneath it.
This is the single most costly mistake in Meta advertising. Pausing kills the learning phase — when you restart, Meta's algorithm starts over from scratch. Rebuilding takes 2 to 3 weeks minimum and costs 2 to 3 times more per result during that period. The moment you pause, your pipeline for 30 to 60 days out starts to shrink.
If you're running only static images on Meta, you're competing at a disadvantage on every auction. Static images have lower engagement rates, shorter dwell time, and weaker emotional connection. Even a simple phone-shot video will outperform a polished still in most service business verticals.
Running Meta ads without the pixel installed is flying completely blind. Without pixel data, Meta cannot optimize toward conversions, cannot build retargeting audiences, and cannot track what happens after someone clicks your ad. The pixel is not optional — it's the foundation that makes every other part of the Meta strategy work.
Cold and hot audiences need completely different messages. A direct "Get a Free Estimate Today" offer shown to someone who has never heard of your brand is too fast — it hasn't earned the right to ask. A brand story video shown to someone who has already visited your pricing page is too slow — they're ready to book. One creative cannot serve both.
The same ad running for months will progressively tank performance as your audience tunes it out. When frequency on cold audiences exceeds 4, people are seeing the same ad repeatedly and actively ignoring it. Your CPM rises, your CTR falls, and your cost per lead climbs — the only fix is new creative. Monitor frequency weekly and refresh proactively before performance drops.

Attribution & Measurement
UTM Tracking — how to tag every Meta ads link
If it's not tagged, it didn't happen. Every clickable Meta ads link must ship with UTMs so LeadSprout, GA4, and the CRM tell the same story. Full reference lives in the UTM Tracking channel guide.
The Meta ads defaults
| Parameter |
Value for Meta ads |
utm_source | meta |
utm_medium | paid-social |
utm_campaign | {brand}_{offer}_{geo}_{yyyymm} |
utm_content | {format}_{hook}_{version} |
utm_term | audience or keyword |
Where to set it
Set these in Meta Ads Manager on the ad level via the URL Parameters field. Use dynamic values ({{campaign.name}}, {{adset.name}}, {{ad.name}}) so every ad self-tags — then enforce the Wundertre naming convention on the campaign, ad set, and ad names themselves.
Example
https://client.com/offer
?utm_source=meta
&utm_medium=paid-social
&utm_campaign=acme_free-inspection_atl_202607
&utm_content=creative-v3
Non-negotiables: lowercase only, hyphens (not spaces or underscores), never tag internal links, and every campaign name ends with _yyyymm. QA every URL with a test click before launch — GA4 Realtime and LeadSprout should show the correct source within 60 seconds.
